Report reveals what finance professionals want from their employers
A study from recruitment firm Hays Accountancy and Finance has revealed what workers in the finance sector want from their employers.
The recruitment firm’s What Workers Want study surveyed 14,000 professionals, more than 2,000 of whom were finance professionals, and revealed the top reasons for workers being deterred from a job role, as well as the most important factors to consider when deciding on a job role.
First impressions count when it comes to finance professionals, with more than 40% of workers in the finance sector saying that they have been put off a job role as a result of negative first impressions.
Finance workers were found to value training and professional development, with these being taken into consideration when it comes to deciding where to work. Despite this, just a third of finance sector employers provide formal training during induction.
Finance workers, particularly accountants who are just starting their career, also turn to reviews to help them decide which employer is best for them, with more than 50% saying that they would be put off working for a company that had negative reviews.
More than 60% of finance professionals also said that they would prefer to meet with their employer before they begin their new job to help them gain an understanding of the role and be prepared.
Hays Accountancy and Finance’s Director Karen Young commented: “Finance employers tell us that they continue to experience skills shortages and what we’ve found is that the challenge isn’t just finding prospective candidates, it’s about keeping them engaged throughout the entire application process to the point of hire and beyond.”
